We are an energy company owned by the City of Lahti. Our subsidiary, Lahti Energia Sähköverkko Oy, handles electricity distribution.

Our story
Over the course of more than a hundred years, we have grown and developed: a small electricity utility has turned into a modern, versatile energy group that implements circular economy solutions for our customers. We are proud of our long history, during which we have often led the way in the energy sector. We will continue to introduce new solutions with an open mind – for the benefit of our customers.
Our story starts at the beginning of the last century as a municipal electricity utility. The operations of the City of Lahti’s electricity utility commenced on 8 December 1907. The electricity utility located on Vesijärvenkatu was the City of Lahti’s first public building. First district heating client was attached to the district heating network in 1962.

Our goal is to be a stable, high‑quality operator that meets regional expectations. We have defined our purpose simply: Carefree energy.
Stregthening our core operations
Our strategy focuses on strengthening our core operations and ensuring the resources needed to carry out the investments required to achieve carbon neutrality in the 2030s. We also aim to support Lahti’s regional growth. This means our ability to connect new customers to both electricity network and district heating network fast and seamless.
One of our key strategic goals is to improve the price competitiveness of district heating. Investments in electric boilers and new production methods, combined with financial strengthening and an efficient operating model, create the foundation for a stable and competitive Lahti Energia. In our strategy we commit to act responsibly, developing our services and making sure that our energy solutions support both our customers and the entire Lahti region.
